The day started with both sets of players and officials sharing a moment of silence to remember former Ammanford player, Colin 'Matho' Matthews, who has sadly passed away following a short illness.

'Matho' was a distinguished gloveman in his playing days and was a member of our famous 1986 double winning team.

The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Colin's family at this incredibly difficult time.

Electing to bat first, Ammanford were soon in dire trouble at 14-4 through a mixture of bad luck and worse shots.

The bad luck mainly belonged to Australian Stephan Muller as he was given out caught behind without touching the ball.

Only a captain's innings of 56 from Rhys Davies saved Ammanford from an embarrassing double digit total.

Young Cian Roach (13) managed to stay with him for Ammanford's best stand of 35 before being unluckily run out after slipping.

Ammanford were all out for 135 in the 45th over.

Things looked gloomy for Ammanford as the visitors got off to a flying start through some loose bowling which opener Lewis Coates (27) took full advantage of.

At 105-4, and with Glamorgan's Prem Sisodiya (41) going well, the match looked in the bag for Pentyrch, but the introduction of Owen Davies (4-46) and Xavier Clarke (2-7) to the attack turned fortune Ammanford's way.

Five wickets fell for 5 runs, and suddenly Ammanford were favourites.

Unfortunately for them, a last wicket partnership of 26 between skipper Gregor McKain (26no) and last man Alex Rennie ((8no) saw the visitors through.

The victory moved Pentyrch up one place from bottom but Ammanford remain one spot above them in Premier 1.

Next Saturday, Ammanford welcome Bridgend Town to the Park where they will hope to bounce back in front of their beloved Balconiers.

2nd Team vs. Neath CC (Away) @ The Gnoll

A poor batting performance saw Ammanford seconds go down by 73 runs to Neath at the Gnoll.

Neath batted first and were all out for 147. Opener Salman Khalid 36) and Oscar Amis (34) were mainly responsible for their runs.

Benjamin Thomas and Iestyn Jones took three wickets apiece for Ammanford.

Ammanford's reply was punctuated by the regular fall of wickets, and they were all out for 74 inside 28 overs.

Despite the loss, Ammanford remain in second place behind Swansea.

3rd Team vs. Gowerton CC (Away) @ Victoria Road

Ammanford's third XI were easily beaten by a margin of 6 wickets at Gowerton.

Batting first, Ammanford were all out for 86 in 30 overs.

Their top scorer was last man Ronnie Bullions with 24.

Gowerton cruised past Ammanford's total in 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.
