Jamie McIlroy and Tom Bevan confirmed as Ammanford Cricket Club’s allocation of Glamorgan players for the 2024 season.

Jamie McIlroy and Tom Bevan have been confirmed as our Glamorgan allocated players for the 2024 season.

29-year-old left-arm seamer McIlroy originally from Builth Wells, signed for Glamorgan in 2019 and in 2021 made his first-class debut against Yorkshire. 2022 saw McIlroy make his debut in white-ball cricket for Glamorgan, delivering some useful spells until a leg injury brought a premature end to his season. However, he returned to full fitness in 2023 and became a regular in both red-ball and white-ball teams for Glamorgan, achieving career best bowling performances of 5-34 against Worcestershire in red-ball cricket and 4-36 against Essex in the T20 Blast.

McIlroy was previously allocated to play for Ammanford during the 2020 season, before the COVID-19 pandemic. He has since represented Mumbles and Clydach in the South Wales Premier Cricket League (SWPCL) as a Glamorgan allocated player.

Meanwhile, Cardiff-born batsman Bevan signed his first professional contract with the Welsh county in October 2022. The 24-year-old made his way through the Glamorgan pathway and after a string of impressive performances with the 2nd XI, made his 1st team debut across all three domestic competitions in the summer of 2022. In his debut season he struck a magnificent maiden and memorable century off 134 balls (including 9 sixes and 13 fours) against Hampshire in the One Day Cup at The Gnoll in Neath, powering Glamorgan to victory in explosive style.

Bevan who also collected Glamorgan’s Young Player of the Year award in 2022 has previously represented his native Cardiff, St Fagans as well as Neath last term in the SWPCL. In his 54 Premier League appearances to date he has amassed a total of 1,294 runs with a best of 142* (128 balls) against Newport in May 2022. Bevan who can also bowl off-breaks has taken 47 wickets in the Premier League with a best of 4-33 against Pontarddulais in July 2021.

The Club are delighted and look forward to welcoming both players to the Park this summer, whilst also wishing them both successful seasons with Glamorgan.
