Congratulations to everyone in position. For those wishing to further support the Club and those that would like to offer their support, please contact any of the Club Officers listed above. We would be delighted to hear from you.
With Alun Evans announcing that he will be stepping down from his role as 1st Team Captain after 14 consecutive years in the role, Rhys Davies will take up the role and lead his young side into 2024 South Wales Premier Cricket League season.
Special mention and thank you to Alun Evans who has captained the club successfully for the past 14 seasons. It was a trophy laden period for the club, winning all domestic trophies available, some on more than one occasion. Not forgetting Alun’s own playing prowess and some of the records he broke as a player, in particular with his batting. There are many memorable moments from Alun’s tenure as captain and these were recognised in our Senior Presentation evening in October 2023. Alun will resume his role as Director of Cricket whilst continuing to play for the club. Alun's continued involvement with the club will only help to nurture the club’s talent and manage the pathway guiding our young players as they transition from junior to senior cricket.
We are proud to share that Abby Morgan has been appointed as the inaugural Women's captain. Abby, a hard hitting all-rounder, brings a wealth of experience to our newly formed women's team. Our newly formed women's team continues to go from strength to strength, having been established by Emma Williams, we now have a large number of talented players and the future of women's and girls cricket in Ammanford looks bright.
Ian Rees also announced that he will be stepping down from his position as a General Committee Member. A big thank you to Ian who has had a long association with the club. Ian has coached all junior age groups, captained the 3rd XI and also assisted in many roles on the committee itself over the years. His pivotal role of captain of the 3rd XI has not gone unnoticed. He helped re-form the club’s 3rd XI in the late 2000s and played a key role in giving junior players their first taste of senior cricket in their journey as players. Diolch, Ian.
Many congratulations to Rhys on his appointment to the prestigious role of 1st Team Captain. We wish Rhys, Carl, Steve, Abby and all the players all the best for the 2024 season and hope for a successful summer of cricket.
Llongyfarchiadau mawr a dymuniadau gorau i chi gyd.
